Comparison of Achievement in Thai Language Reading Analysis Thinking and Motivational of Prathomsuksa 6 Students Between Collaborative Group Learning By CIRC And Technique KWL Plus

Abstract

Implementing CIRC and KWL Plus in learning Thai language is very effective and
practically related to the students’ lives. It urges learners to inquire learning through their
interests which allows them to develop their reading, critical thinking and motivational
achievement in learning Thai. The goals of this research are: 1) To determine the effectiveness
of the study through CIRC and KWL Plus in the criterion of 80/80. 2) To study the effectiveness
index of the research employing CIRC and KWL Plus. 3) To compare the ability in reading,
critical thinking, and motivational achievement between Pre-tests and Post-tests through
CIRC and KWL Plus. 4)To compare learning achievement, critical thinking and motivational
achievement in learning Thai between CIRC and KWL Plus. The samples are Primary students
level 6 Ban Darn school Khong-Jiam District Ubonratchathani Primary Education Service
Area3, second semester academic year 2012. There are 45 students chosen from two classes
by purposive sampling. The primary students level 6 are experimental group 1 which
consists of 21 students. They learn through CIRC. Another group, group 2, consists of 24
students. They learn through KWL Plus method. The instruments are used in this research
are 1) Lesson plans cooperating CIRC and lesson plans implemented KWL Plus method.
There are 8 students in each group.2) Reading ability test with 30 items has a discrimination
of 0.27-0.64 with the reliability of 0.85.3) Critical thinking test with 30 items has the difficulty
(r) since 0.27-0.73 the discrimination (p) since 0.42-0.87 with the reliability of 0.89 4)
Motivational achievement test with 15 items has the reliability of 0.78. The statistics used in
data analysis is percentage of the average standard deviation and hypothesis testing by using
the Wilcoxon and statistics of Mann-Whitney U Test.
The results were as follows :
1) Lessons cooperating CIRC employed by the researcher has improved learners’
capability by 84.21/ 82.22, and lessons implementing KWL Plus method indicated learners’
capability by 85.05/ 84.03 respectively.
2) Lessons cooperating CIRC group’s effectiveness index is 0.6190 with the
percentage 61.90 and lessons implement KWL Plus method’s effectiveness index is 0.6567
with the percentage 65.67.
3) The students who studied in the lessons cooperating CIRC and lessons implementing
KWL Plus method indicate an average point of ability in reading, critical thinking and motivational
achievement. Post-tests results increased from that of Pre-tests with the statistical significance
0.5.
4) The students who studied with the lessons implementing KWL Plus method
developed the ability in reading, critical thinking and motivational achievement more than
the students who studied in lesson cooperating CIRC with a difference in statistical
significance 0.5.
