Abstract

The purpose of this academic article was to examine object management (suspension bridge and elevator) through mythology sign of Roland Barthes. The field study was conducted at the suspension bridge and elevator that related with temples, communities, and government offices. It was based on the belief connected to the suspension bridge and elevator through community life style along Nan River and traffic from the past to nowadays on changing trend. It was the specific cultural meanings that connected to Buddhism myth. The field data was collected from documents, interviews, and observations. The key informants of this study consisted of abbots, lift controller monks, former Deputy Chief Executive of the Sub-district Administrative Organization, village headman, former headman, temple committee, and community population for 15 people. The data was analyzed by following mythology sign of Roland Barthes. (Roland Barthes: 1915-1980)
