Abstract

The purposes of this research were to compare English communication ability of students after learning with CAT English program, and to compare the English communication ability of the students who studied with the CAT English program and the conventional teaching group. The samples were student in Mathayomsuksa 6 of Bansuan (Chananuson) School, Chonburi province, an experimental group consisted to 38 students and a control group consisted of 30 students, selected by cluster random sampling method. The experiment took 12 sessions. The instruments were communicative language teaching by applying CAT English program lesson plans, conventional teaching lesson plans and listening, speaking, reading, writing for English communicative competence tests. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results of the study were as follows:


  1. The posttest scores of the students who studied with the CAT English program was significantly higher than the pre-test scores at the 0.01 level of significance.

  2. The posttest scores of student who studied with the CAT English program was significantly higher than the posttest scores of a control group at the 0.01 level of significance.
