Abstract

This was an experiment al research with the objectives of creating a  dancing art activity therapy for social adjustment among the elderly in a  nursing home, a case study of the Watsanawet Social Welfare Development Center for Older Persons, Ayutthaya by studying the pretest and posttest result of using dancing art therapy for social adjustment and to examine the satisfaction lovels of the elderly towards the dancing art activity therapy. The population consisted of eight participants. A one Group Pretest - Posttest Design was applied. The results illustrated that: 1). The creation of dancing art activity therapy for the social adjustment of the elderly at nursing homes applied the dancing art therapy process using rhythmic body movement sintegratd with Thai Dramatic art theory in terms of dance terminology, gestures and folk performances. Furthermore, the group dynamics and activity theory were utilized as it was believed that these activities would allow the elderly to continue to engage in society. Dancing art activity therapy and social adjustment were based on the Adaptation Model put Forward by Roy in three aspects: self - concept, roles and responsibilities and dependency to set the guidelines for creating dancing art activity therapy. The dancing art activity therapy package took place twice a week for five weeks, one hour at a time and ten times in total; 2). the results of pre and post using dancing art activity therapy indicated that the mean score after using dancing art activity therapy was higher than those before using dancing art activity therapy at a 0.5 level of statistical significance; 3). the satisfaction of the elderly towards  dancing art activity therapy for social adjustment  the elderly was at the highest level.
