บทคัดย่อ

This research paper aims to compose a set of
traditional Thai dance from the folk literature entitled Usa-
Baros in a Thai cultural context and to find a way to create a
new version of the mentioned folk literature.
Usa-Baros is believed to be a based-on-true-story
folk tale. Provincial people do not only believe this is true but
also have a strong faith in the love of Tao Baros and Nang
Usa. The setting of the story is at Phu Phrabat Historical
Park, Udonthani, Thailand. The producer chooses this scene,
where Tao Baros and Nang Usa fall in love for the first time,
to compose a set of traditional Northeastern Thai dance.
The concept of this dance is performance that
uses Bot Phaya and Fawn to show the courtship actions of
the couple.
The performers can be divided into two groups. Group 1;
‘Nang Usa’ comprises one princess (Nang Usa) and three or
four concubines. Group 2; ‘Tao Bros’ comprises one prince
(Tao Baros) and three or four soldiers.
There are 3 scenes in the performance. Scene 1:
“Opening” - the two groups encounter each other. Scene 2:
Courtship between Nang Usa and Tao Baros, using Bot
Praya as a dialogue. Scene 3: the two groups dance together
in the Fawn Kiew or Courtship Dance pattern. There are
127 steps in this routine, adapted from the folk literature Usa-
Baros in a Thai cultural context.
This performance can used both as a part of the
curriculum in school and as a show, to continue the traditional
of Northeastern dance.
