The Verifying of the Red Rice Seed Mixed in the White Rice Seed by Digital Image Processing
This research proposes the verifying method of the red rice seed mixed in the white rice seed by a digital image processing technique based on the rice seed quality standard of the Rice Department of Thailand. There is Thai jasmine rice, the jasmine white rice 105 that comprises 98 percent of the purely white rice and no more than 2 percent of the red rice. In the first step of an experiment, the black-white images are processed by preparing image procedures for eliminating noise signals with the morphological technique. In the second step, the red and white rice images are separated by monitoring levels of the gray scale images from the value of 10 to 255, and then both images are converted to logical images. In the third step, amount of image pixels are verified as the logic “1” in both images for finding out amount of pixel areas of the red and white rice. In the last step, both images are computed the ratio of the red rice mixed in the white rice. The result of an experiment with 73 images and an appropriate light control without image shadows, can compute the ratio of the red rice mixed in the white rice with an accurate value of 83.3 percent.
