Sideband Noise Model in CMOS Cross-Coupled Differential Sinusoidal Oscillator
This paper proposes a model for the conversion of the MOSFET channel thermal noise and the resistance thermal noise into the sideband noise, commonly known as phase noise, in the CMOS cross-coupled differential sinusoidal oscillator. The model is based on the periodic time-varying characteristic of the source-coupled pair employed in this oscillator. The model relating oscillator’s key performance parameters and CMOS process parameters. The validity of the proposed model was confirmed by the Periodic Noise (Pnoise) simulation available in the Cadence’s Virtuoso Spectre Circuit Simulator.
