ประเพณีบุญบั้งไฟ : วัฒนธรรมเสี่ยงภัยในยุคสมัยใหม่

บทคัดย่อ

บุญบั้งไฟเป็นประเพณีขอฝนของชาวอีสานซึ่งมีการจุดบั้งไฟเพื่อบวงสรวงเทวาอารักษ์สิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์หรือเป็นสัญญาณบอกฟ้าให้พญาแถนบันดาลฝนให้เมืองมนุษย์ตามความคติเชื่อดั้งเดิม แต่ในปัจจุบันการจุดบั้งไฟในประเพณีดังกล่าวกลับเป็นการจุดเพื่อแข่งขันและเพื่อการพนันมากขึ้น ทำให้มีการพัฒนาขนาดของบั้งไฟรวมทั้งความเร็วและแรงของบั้งไฟโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่เข้ามาช่วย ซึ่งทำให้บั้งไฟเป็นวัตถุทางวัฒนธรรมที่มีอันตรายอย่างมาก และหลายครั้งได้ส่งผลร้ายแรงต่อชีวิตและทรัพย์สินของผู้คนบทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่ออธิบายวัฒนธรรมประเพณีในกรณีของบุญบั้งไฟในฐานะของวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยที่กำลังเผชิญกับความเสี่ยงในยุคสมัยใหม่โดยผลิตความเสี่ยงในเชิงกายภาพแทนที่การเป็นประเพณีที่ลดความเสี่ยงในเชิงจิตวิทยาในแบบดั้งเดิม จากนั้นนำ เสนอวิธีการจัดการความเสี่ยงดังกล่าวซึ่งทำให้ธุรกิจประกันภัยเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง ซึ่งชี้ให้เห็นว่าความเสี่ยงที่เกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบันไม่เพียงแต่เป็นความเสี่ยงด้านสุขภาพและสิ่งแวดล้อมเท่านั้น แม้แต่ในวัฒนธรรมประเพณีที่ดูเหมือนไม่ต้องเผชิญกับความเสี่ยงอะไรมากนักยังมีการผลิตและสร้างความเสี่ยงซ้ำมากขึ้นในโลกสมัยใหม่ โดยวิเคราะห์ผ่านแนวคิดเรื่องความเสี่ยงภัยในยุคสมัยใหม่ของแอนโทนีกิดเดนส์ เป็นหลัก

Bun Bangfai (Rocket Festival) : The Risk Culture in Modern Era

Bun Bangfai rocket festival is a tradition culture of Isan people which shooting rocket activity aim to worship the Gods of rain. At the present, this tradition turns to be a tradition of competition and gambling more and more. The size of the rocket is developed as well as high speed and force of the rocket by using modern technology that let the rocket as cultural object is very dangerous and affects people’s lives and properties significantly. This article aims to describe the risk culture by showing a case of Bun Bangfai as a traditional culture which is used to be a tradition of psychological risk-reducing but now change to be a contemporary culture which is a physical risk-producing culture. And then describe how to manage such risks, which let the insurance business involved. This suggests that the risks occurring at the present not only are the health and environment risk, but the traditional culture can produce and reproduce more risks in the modern world. The concept of risk in the modern era of Anthony Giddens is used as the main analysis.
