Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript preparation

1.1 Language
Contributions should be written in either Thai or English. If not written by a native speaker of the language chosen, they should be checked by a native speaker before submission. If the article contains passages in other languages, the passages should be accompanied by translations in the language of the main text.
Authors are requested to check their manuscripts carefully for grammatical and orthographical errors prior to submission. In the case of English manuscripts, either British or American spelling conventions are acceptable as long as they are used consistently. Authors of Thai manuscripts are advised to follow the spelling of the Royal Institute’s Dictionary of B.E. 2554. For Thai technical terminology, authors should adopt the terms recommended by the Royal Institute with the terms in the original language given in parentheses. In the case that there is no official translation available for the term, the author may choose an appropriate substitution in Thai with the term in the original language in parentheses.

1.2 Manuscript form and formatting

The length of manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 words. Both Thai manuscripts and English manuscripts should use 16 pt TH Sarabun New font for the body of the text, with main titles in 18 pt. Manuscripts should use regular margins (one-inch on every side) and single-line spacing between sentences, except in the case of section and subsection heads (see below). Please left-justify all pages and avoid right-justification. Use italics for foreign words and/or for cited words. The text should be divided into numbered sections, and necessary subsections, but no more than three levels of subheading should be used. The first section of the text should be 1, not 0. All new paragraphs are to be indented 1 tab length. Subsection numbers should not have full stops after them (so 2.1 not 2.1.). Section and subsection headings should use the following style.

1.2.1 Heading level 1
Heading level 1 = bold, 18 pt, two lines space above and one line space below.

1.2.2 Heading level 1.1
Heading level 1.1 = bold, 16 pt, one line space above and one line space below.

 
1.2.3 Heading level 1.1.1
Heading level 1.1.1 = italic, 16 pt, one line space above, text on new line.

Articles should be saved in both .doc or .docx and PDF formats and titled after the last name of the author or the first author (in the case of multiple authors).

1.3 Copyright and plagiarism

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyrighted materials from copyright owners. Authors are responsible for observing requisite copyright law when quoting or reproducing copyrighted materials. Quotations and reproductions of content from other published sources must be accompanied by a reference and all sources should be clearly listed in the references section. Quotations and reproductions of content from external sources without due attribution could be considered a severe infringement of academic conduct and may constitute a legal offence under the Copyright Act of B.E. 2537. Any legal ramifications arising from the infringement of copyright regulations would be the sole responsibility of the author(s).

1.4 Abstract

The manuscript must be accompanied by an abstract (maximum 200 words) and five keywords in both Thai and English.

1.5 Figures, tables, charts, and examples

Figures, tables, charts, and examples should be numbered consecutively and be accompanied with appropriate captions. References to them in the main text should be made accordingly. Examples should be set apart from the main text with one-line space above and below. Figures, tables, and charts should be submitted separately as JPEG files.

1.6 Footnotes

Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and should be numbered consecutively throughout.
 
1.7 In-text citation

In case that the cited work is written by a Thai author, the author’s first name in English is listed first in the parenthesis, followed by the year of publication in Common Era, and page number. It is recommended that the following style guide is observed:

The aforementioned guidelines also apply to cited works written by non-Thai authors. However, unlike the citation of a Thai source, the author’s last name is cited instead of his or her first name.
Quotations from external sources should be given in double quotation marks, accompanied by references. Quotations longer than four lines should be indented and set apart from the main text with one-line space above and below.

1.8 Reference list

The reference list must contain all works cited in the text, alphabetically ordered. Reference entries should strictly follow the style guide below:

Publications of the same author should be arranged chronologically from the most recent to the earliest publication.
Reference list must not include any entry that is not mentioned in the text or in footnotes.

2. Manuscript submission

Manuscripts should be submitted online through the Open Journal System, which is accessible via www.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/jletters.

3. Post-submission procedure

All submitted manuscripts are subject to a double-blind review by two referees. In the case that the manuscript is accepted for publication and any recommended revisions are duly made, the editorial board will determine the issue in which the manuscript will appear and will inform the author(s) accordingly. Authors will receive galley proofs for final corrections. They should return the finalized proofs with corrections by dates determined by the editor.
