Ideas for the Cost Estimation of Thai Para-rubber Production
The previous cost estimation of Thai para-rubber production had beenmoderately studied and researched in some government sectors such as Rubber Research Instituteof Thailand, Department of Agriculture, Office of Agricultural Economics,and education institutes. Among these sectors, there were some criticisms which were both limitations and suggestions for further study and research. In addition, the cost estimation of Thai pararubber production was studied and researched in interested areas or specific issues. These studies and researches also lacked of continuity. This article attempts to synthesize some criticisms of the previous cost estimationof Thai para-rubber production. Moreover, five steps for the cost estimation of Thai para-rubber production are proposed. They are; 1) specifying objectives and scope of the estimation, 2) learning and understanding onpara-rubber productionsystem and para-rubber farmers’ behavior, 3) specifying hypothesis of the estimation, 4) using appropriate method of the estimation, and5) creating scenario in order to receive the accurate and obvious results including to cover the socio-economic, physical and biological characteristics of para-rubber production of Thai para-rubber farmers. Furthermore, government sectors involving in pararubber policy formulation will have reliable information and be able to efficiently solve the problems of Thai para-rubber farmers.
