Abstract

The Happy Workplace Practices in Multinational Companies: Case Study of Manufacturing Firms in Eastern Region

The study aimed to investigate the implementation of the notion of Happy Workplace in manufacturing multinational companies that located on the eastern region of Thailand. The samples were three multinational companies that used the notion of Happy Workplace to develop the organization and promote employees’ quality of work life. However, they did not participate and were not members of the happy workplace project of the Thai Health Promotion Foundation because of organizational policy limitation. The author used purposive sampling and semi-structured interview to collect data, and employed the categorical approach to analyze data. The finding founded that the samples were Japanese multinational companies that produced automotive parts, consumer products, and decorative color painting, and had already provided employee relations activities based on eight components of Happy Workplace already. For Happy Workplace initiation, there were five steps to concern that were: categorizing the employee activities into eight components of Happy Workplace, surveying employees’ satisfaction in activities, planning and developing activities indicators, monitoring employee feedback regularly, and evaluating the success of the organization.
