The purpose of this descriptive research was to study the level of cultural competencies of nurses working at northeastern regional hospitals, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. The sample group was comprised of 440 professional nurses. The research tool was a cultural competency assessment form developed from the Inventory for Assessing the Process of Cultural Competence (IAPCC-R). Cultural competency assessed included competencies related to cultural knowledge, cultural awareness, cultural skills, interaction with multicultural service recipients, and the desire to have the cultural competency The content validity of the tool was evaluated by five experts, with the validity of the cultural knowledge section was tested using the Kuder Richardson Formula 20 (KR-20) resultingin a coefficientof 0.80. A Cronbach 's alpha coefficient was calculated for cultural competency knowledge part resultingin a coefficientof0.79. The responded questionnaire brought back in the total of 405 items 92%. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings show that the level of cultural competency of nurses at Northeastern Medial Education Center, Ministry of Public Health, was at moderate level and the high level is cultural awareness, nurses always aware to develop knowledge, ability, and skills .
