This descriptive research is to study the characteristics, experience, impact and source of support when cyber bullying among nurses in Thailand. The study sample was composed of 241 nurses. Data collection had been done during December 2018 to February 2019. The research instruments were the demographic data and the cyber bullying in nurses questionnaire and were tested for reliability using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient yielding of 0.87. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation
The results showed that nurses were bullied from cyber online was 33.32 % and mostly of them were female 72.20%. The most cyber bullying areas was in-patient department at 34.85% followed by emergency department at 26.14%. The top three cyber bullying among nurses were gossip at 81.33% followed by defamation at 53.53% and false pretenses at 31.54 %. 1) The mainly of bullied characteristics were posting, sharing, copying confidential text, image and video and discredit at 15.35% 2) The mainly experience of bullied were being posted, text, images or video while doing nursing activities and while working in the online space which was a threat to physical, mental and indirect pressure at high level (M=7.81, SD2.44) 3) After being victimized, there was a high level of privacy violation (M=7.41, SD=3.02). In additional, effected of being bullied affected on optimism (M=6.51,SD=2.96), on commitment of work (M=6.46,SD=3.08), did not want to go back to work (M=6.02,SD=3.18), and on resignation of work (M=6.47,SD=3.27) at quite high level. 4) Sources of support when bullied, nurses chose to consult with colleagues at 70.54% followed by report to the supervisor at 64.73% and another issue was to let the matter end at 46.06 %. Cyber bullying can affect the physical and mental state, especially the victim. Therefore raising awareness and responsibility for the use of online media by nurses and finding ways to present cyber bullying can help reduce these effects.
