Abstract

This article stems from a research project, “Developmental Scheme for Village Committee Organization as an Instrument for Implementing ‘Pracharat Policy on the Basis of the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy’,” and aims to; 1) explore the state of the organization as it is; and 2) find a scheme that enable the village committee to be one of the supporting and integral part for the ‘Pracharat Policy.’ It found the village committee organization, at a current state, is capable and up to the new challenge. This is because its mechanisms such as participatory policy-making process and town hall meeting scheme, which contribute to the success in village policy-making process – which could compliment the Pracharat Policy method to implement its projects in the village. However, further recommendations for the village committee organization to employ and other relevant-organizations to adjust their role in order to elevate overall effectiveness of the organization to fit its current demands, which are; 1) making the organization to resume a role in Amphoe and province policy-making process; 2) providing more authority and role in helping Amphoe Administration in the area of conflict resolution; 3) bringing the organization to be one of the mechanisms in local-level policy-making process; and 4) being a center of coordination in the area for local volunteers.
