Opinion of College of Politics and Governance Students to the Semester Opening-Ending into the ASEAN Community

Abstract

College of Politics and Governance is a faculty under Mahasarakham University’s monitoring. It offers a higher education for undergraduate and graduate levels which there is an adjustment of semester opening and ending from a traditional pattern to a new platform which related to the integration of ASEAN countries into the ASEAN Community. Currently, College of Politics and Governance contains of thousands of students, they are affected from a new policy of semester opening and ending which might has both advantage and disadvantage from the change. This research is a qualitative research which emphasizes in a study of opinion of College of Politics and Governance students to a new system of semester opening-ending according to ASEAN Community with its objectives are 1) to study the opinion of College of Politics and Governance students to semester opening-ending according to ASEAN Community 2) to study the impact from the semester opening-ending according to ASEAN Community of College of Politics and Governance students and 3) to represent the opinion of College of Politics and Governance students to semester opening-ending according to ASEAN Community to the relevant persons who involves in a new policy of semester opening-ending. The data base of this qualitative research is a sample group of 400 students of College of Politics and Governance. Data collection tool is questionnaires with the statistical analysis compose of percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The result found that students of College of Politics and Governance agree on the advantage of semester opening-ending which relies on ASEAN Community in a much level that brings more moment of educational officers and students among counties, which greatly impacts on students who newly graduate from senior high school (Matthayom 6) to have more time for preparation for the entrance to the university, along with students enable to attend tutorial school or find a part-time job which could gain new experiences during before semester beginning and a new platform of the semester opening-ending accordance with ASEAN Community also impacts on a new educational system which integrate into the same direction in an entire ASEAN
