Abstract

This research aimed at analyzing the relationships between the competition results and the Sepak Takraw playing patterns in the 38th National Games. The samples were the male and female players winning the games from the 2nd competition up to the championship one. The data were collected by videotaping the matches and were transferred into the 38th National Games record–format, which was designed based on the playing skills used. The data were analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and Chi–square. The results were as follows: 1) The patterns of serving offenses, players’ positions, leg–choices for making–score kickings, and setting patterns of the male players are significantly related to the competition results; 2) The serving patterns, serving offenses, making–score kickings, settings, and the patterns of backing of the female players also significantly related to the competition results.
