Antecedents Affecting the Sustainable Historical Tourism of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

This article has a purpose to study the level and antecedents of tourism resource, characteristics of local people, government policies and the readiness of agencies that influence sustainable historical tourism and guidelines for promoting sustainable historical tourism. By using integrated research methods between quantitative research and qualitative research. Collect quantitative data from people in the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya municipality, living in the area of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Island, a total of 440 people. Using the 20 times the threshold of observed variables. Using a multi-step sampling method. Analyze results with descriptive statistics and structural equation models. The qualitative research using in-depth interviews with the 9 key informants who are executives, government agencies and private sectors related to sustainable historical tourism.

The results of the research are as follows;

1) Tourism resources, characteristics of local people and sustainable historical tourism are very good. The government policy and the readiness of agencies are good. 2) The government policy has an overall influence on the most sustainable historical tourism, followed by the readiness of agencies and tourism resources. 3) The guidelines for promoting sustainable historical tourism is to manage tourism by aiming at the cost that is the strength of historical tourism in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya as a World Heritage Site. Which must be done continuously. Create awareness understanding and instilling the consciousness of people in the local community, tourists and government officials recognize the importance of ancient sites. Develop transportation routes in the historical park area for convenience and safety. And finally, the management of the integration of various departments to create collaboration and coordination for management in the same direction.
