The Development of Youths’ Self-Esteem through the Implementation of Sammadhitti

บทคัดย่อ

       The purposes of this study were: 1) to investigate realization level of senior high school students’ self-esteem, 2) to develop a model of self-esteem realization in senior high school students using Buddhist’s Sammaditthi concept, or right understanding, and 3) to assess the developed model. The subjects of this study were 320 senior high school students in Amnatcharoen School. Purposive sampling technique was used to obtain the subjects. A model of activities was for self-esteem development was constructed based on Buddhist’s Summadithi 10 Principles. The model was presented and evaluated by experts in a focus group. A form for assessing self-esteem realization was used to collect the data before and after the implementation of the model. Percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and t-test dependent were employed to analyze the data. Content analysis was used for qualitative data analysis. The statistical significance level of this study was set at .05.
       The research findings were as follows: 1) The students’ self-esteem realization before participating in the model was, as a whole, at a medium level, 2) The developed model of activities was approved by the experts in the focus group discussion, opinionating that its content was appropriate for implementation and 3) The students’ self-esteem was obviously increased up to a high level after participating in the activities provided in the developed model. The difference was significant.
