Nurse Characteristics of Professional Nurses’ Practices Based on the Way of Bodhisattva’s Perfection Practices

       This qualitative study had three objectives: 1) to study Bodhisattva’s Perfection Practices based on Buddhadasa Bhikku's way of thinking, 2) to study the outstanding characteristics of professional nurses who received the honorable national award, and 3) to analytically study the similarities of core practice issues between those professional nurse’s characteristics and the Bodisattva's way of perfection practice.
        Regarding the literature review the Bodisattva's way of perfection practice composes of four key concepts including Suddhi, Pannā, Metta, and Khanti as followed: (1) Suddhi refers to person who has a purified mind without defilements; (2) Pannā refers to a wisdom mind who knows how to eliminate sufferings leading to liberation; (3) Metta and refers to unselfish persons who establish good friendships and recognition towards everyone concerning we are in the same boat of human being with states of birth, old age, sickness, and dead; and (4) Khanti refers to the right efforts and right knowledge leading to achievement as planning the Bodhi tree in oneself.

          The findings showed that the characteristics of outstanding professional nurses have congruent with the way of Bodhisattva’s Perfection Practices based on Buddhadasa Bhikku's way of thinking. Firstly, the Suddhi concept refers to having purified mind without prejudice to others. Secondly, the Pannāconcept refers to having keenness in their works, developing knowledge in nursing practice, educating and being a good model for others. Thirdly, the Metta concept refers to having unconditioned love and compassion towards others, devoting themselves in helping others, building good relationship with right understanding of all human life. Lastly, the Khanticoncept refers to enduring work in their administration, services, and academic services responsibilities for effective goal setting achievement concerning work safety, moral, coping, happy with serving others and do not quit the job although the nurses are exhausted, powerless, and facing with unpleasant situations.
