Developing A Competency Model For Educational Administrators

บทคัดย่อ

The general purpose of the research was to develop a competency model for educational administrators, and the specific purposes were  1) to set a competency model for educational administrators and  2) to check the level of concordance with a competency model for educational administrators with empirical data. The research procedures were divided into two steps. Step one : setting a competency model for educational administrators by analyzing and synthesizing the related literatures and interviewing ten experts to draft a competency model. Then, a focus group discussion consisting of ten experts to set a competency model for educational administrators. Step two : checking the concordance of a competency model for educational administrators with empirical data  with a questionnaire to collect  data from one hundred and twenty educational administrators who worked as superintendents  or district administrators. The data were analyzed using mean (x), coefficient of variation (C.V.) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)  by using  Chi-Square  test

The research results were as follows

          1. The competency model for educational administrators consisted of nine competencies and sixty seven indicators. They included the following: 1) Leadership - seven indicators, 2) Strategic Management - eight indicators,   3) Communication and Colloration - eight indicators,  4) Problem Solving and Decision Making - eight indicators,       5) Technology and English - six indicators, 6) Empowerment and Teamwork - eight indicators, 7) Moral and Ethics - seven indicators, 8) Adaptability and Flexibility - six indicators and 9) Educational Administrators and Management - nine indicators,

          2. The competency model for educational administrators was in concordance with the empirical data.
