Dhamma Cakkhu in Theravada Buddhism

บทคัดย่อ

This purpose of this research project was as follows : 1) to study concept of Dhamma Cakkhu in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study practice doctrine to attain Dhamma Cakkhu in Theravada Buddhism,  3) to study Dhamma Cakkhu Phenomenon in Thai society.  This research project is based on Documentary Research  and In-Depth Interview.   The study was found that Dhamma Cakkhu or Wisdom Eye means insight knowledge that realized ‘the Four Noble Truths’(Ariyasacca).  There were four levels of Dhamma Cakkhu  called ‘Magga4’ and ‘Pala4’ which were  set by the Buddha using extinguish of 10 Fetters or Bandages (Sañyojana) as key measurement. The concept of Dhamma Cakkhu has significant consideration factors which are important  persons, important  reason, goal” and the timing to practice for “Dhamma Cakkhu”.  One needs to follow the practice doctrine consisting of 7 sets qualities contributing to enlightenment (Bodhipakkhiya-dhamma) and continuously exercising tranquility development (Samatha-bhàvàna) and insight development (Vipassanà-bhàvàna).  In terms of analyzing Dhamma Cakkhu Phenomenon in Thai society, this study was found that most people do not know the correct meaning of Dhamma Cakkhu.  However, the attention of the practice is increasing.  Proper period of time is also a significant factor for the progress of the practice.  There are about 7 major techniques teaching in Thai society, following  the doctrine of  the Four Foudations of Mindfulness (Satipaññhàna). Another remarkable phenomenon is Thai society has been given knowledge of  Dhamma Cakkhu by  His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama9).   His Majesty was expert in Buddhism . HM showed profound confidence in the Triple Gem,  learning deeply in the Threefold Training : training in higher morality (Adhisâla-sikkhà), training in higher mentality (Adhicitta- sikkhà),  training in higher wisdom ((Adhipañña-sikkhà). Moreover, HM laid the foundation of Pañña3 for  the inhabitant  and  applied concept of ‘The Four Noble Truths’ with his royal duties in order to end suffering and bring happiness for the people.
