Formal of Social Welfare Elderly in Thai Society : A case study of the Elderly in Chaiyaphum Province

บทคัดย่อ

The research aimed to study models of welfare service for the elderly in Chaiyaphum province. This research was qualitative method approach with a sampling of 50 elderly who were at least 60 years old residing in Chaiyaphum province.  They were presidents, committees or members of various elderly groups. Focus group interview and in-depth interview were used as research tools.
The finding revealed 2 Models. The first model is the interval service within each community. This scheme includes 1) savings fund, 2) funeral fund, 3) religious ceremony and tradition fund, 4) the elderly health center. The second model is the external service extended to the community. This scheme includes 1) monthly subsidy, 2) fund for emergency and patients with chronic illness, 3) medical checkup for the elderly, 4) the elderly activity fund, and 5) occupation fund for the elderly in the communities.
