Emotional Abuse of Thai Male Juvenile: Grounded Theory

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study types of emotional abuse among Thai male juvenile in the Juvenile Vocational Training Center for Boys by grounded theory research following constructivist design. Fifteen male delinquents from the Juvenile Vocational Training Center for Boys were enrolled in the study. Data collected by in-depth interview, documentary analysis, and participant observation were analyzed by four steps including initial coding, focus coding, axial coding, and theoretical coding.                    


The research finding showed that 5 patterns of emotional abuse among Thai male juvenile delinquents included Verbal abuse, Physical abuse, Personal Rights and Freedom Restrictions, Neglect and Expression of Negative Behaviors.
