Influence of Social Ecological Factors on Public Mind Behavior of Vocational Students in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional survey research aimed to study the influence of social ecological factors concerning public mind behavior among vocational students. A total of 354 students were selected using multistage sampling technique. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires between October and November 2017. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. The results revealed that 65.3% of the subjects displayed good public mind behavior, 33.3% were at moderate level and 1.4% at poor level. The public mind behavior is positively associated with attitude, parental role model, teacher role model, friend influence, perception of institutional activities, perception of community activities, and perception of public mind policy. In addition, factors predicting the public mind behavior of vocational students included parental role model, friend influence, attitude, perception of institutional activities and age. The prediction percentage was 43.5%. Findings from this study recommended that family, school and related organization should cooperate to promote public mind behavior of vocational students by supporting the parental role model, friend influence, attitude about public mind and perception of institutional activities.
