Abstract

This research objectives were to 1) study the people perception on the implementation of the policy to prevent and reduce road accidents in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province  2)  compare the people perception on  the implementation of the policy, classified by personal factors and type of vehicles used 
3) recommend the appropriate approach to enhance the enforcement of the policy to prevent and reduce road accidents in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

            this was a mixed research of quality and quantity. population consisted of licensed drivers and the policemen who enforced the law involved. samples were 400 drivers obtained via Yamane calculation, with the application of accidental random sampling,  and 15 policemen from Huahin, Pranburi, and Muang Pruachuap Khiri Khan Districts, purposive and stratification random sampling were applied.  instrument used were questionnaire and interview. statistical tools employed were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t- test, one way anova, and content analysis.

            Research findings were as follows; 1) the people perception on the implementation of the policy to prevent and reduce road accidents in Prachuap Khiri  Khan Province was at  high level, with the highest mean on communication 2) when compared the people perception, differences were found among those with differences in ages, education level, types of driving licenses, driving experiences and type of vehicles used at 0.05 level of statistical significance, while no difference was found between those with different genders  3) promote the enforcement of policies to prevent and reduce road accidents. in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province important policy clarity criminal penalties should be imposed to prevent road safety behaviors and road safety in urban areas. the point is basically the crossing or intersection. policy communication need to improve road repair, promote safety in roaming. there is a risk management plan for students by analyzing the causes and risk factors of road accidents in schools. law enforcement  there is a strict enforcement of traffic laws, and there are measures for supervision of public bus control.
