Abstract

This particular research is a mixed methods research of qualitative and quantitative research method. The research is aimed for 1) studying lifestyle behavior based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy of the people living in Kho Wang district, Yasothon province, 2) studying the way to develop economy based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy, and 3) searching for a sustainable development model based on the philosophy of sufficiency economy. The informants for the qualitative data include 20 persons. The sample size includes 400 people. The qualitative analysis includes content analysis and data categorization. The results revealed that 1) the overall value of lifestyle behavior based on the sufficiency economy philosophy of the people living in Kho Wang district, Yasothon province is at the high level. When consider each dimension separately, it was found that food dimension is at the high level. 2) The way to develop the economy based on sufficiency economy philosophy, it was found that people have knowledge and understanding toward philosophy of sufficiency economy and the leaders’ policies including (1) investment activities, (2) a careful daily expenses, (3) a preparation of household accounts, (4) knowledge seeking, (5) investment, (6) honesty, (7) make good use of free time, (8) carry out activities together, (9) know how to save money, and (10) know how to think, plan, and analyze. 3) The sustainable development model based on sufficiency economy philosophy, it was found that people should focus on sufficiency agriculture by holding on the philosophy of sufficiency economy.
