This qualitative research explored the meaning and components of active aging preparation for nurses. Key informants were 115 nurses working in a tertiary care hospital. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and document during April – August 2016 reviews. Data were analyzed by using content analysis. Results: Nurses provided meaning of active aging preparation as the plans/ ways of living to be done by nurses presently and continuously until old ages. The 7 components included:1) delaying physical health declines; 2) financial management;3) work security; 4) preparation of caregivers/family & living arrangement; 5) preparing for social participation; 6) Living will planning and preparing for good death; and 7) preparing for activities/jobs after retirement. These results suggest components of active aging preparation specifically to each age group of nurses working at a tertiary care hospital. This knowledge contributes to the development of active aging preparation model for nurse working at tertiary care hospitals.
