Osteoarthritis of the knee (OA knee) is a chronic condition, which increases incidence and prevalence rate, especially in older adults. OA knee is primarily causes of disability. Overweight and obesity are the most common factors contributing to severity of the knee and causing the knee easily injured. These lead to worse prognosis and eventually the patients become disable. Therefore, risk reduction, overweight and obesity, for developing OA knee is vital to reduce disability among older adults. This article provides the modalities for prevention and management of OA knee in overweight and obese older adults, which may be helpful for health care providers to direct their practices for prevention and management OA knee in the targeted population. Ultimately, the older adults with OA knee are expected to improve functional ability due to increasing joint movement, decrease pain and disability, and increase quality of life.
