This descriptive research aims to study the child rearing model and relative factors involved the child rearing model in children under 5 years old among alcoholic and non alcoholic grandparents ones living in a district in Khon Kaen province. Subjects of 328 persons were chosen from families with children under five years old by stratified sampling. Data collection was conducted by using questionnaire designed by a researcher with a reliability coefficient interval of 0.84. Data analysis was performed by descriptive analysis (frequency, percentage) and bivariate analysis(Chi-SquareTest)for the child rearing model differentiation and relation. Results found that, among subjects of 328 people, 49% of them acted as a primary caregiver, 38.1% of them were alcoholic grandparents, 61.9% were non alcoholic grandparents. There were 3.4% of them used to single model applying a Authoritative and there were further 3 mixed model used for rearing their children; 1) authoritative-authoritarian-permissive(92.9%), 2) authoritative-authoritarian(0.3%) and 3) authoritative-Permissive(3.4%).There were no statistically significant difference between the child rearing models in children under 5 years oldamong alcoholic and non alcoholic grandparents. In addition, age factor in grandparents was relevant to the child rearing models inchildren under 5 years old with significance level of 0.05.Downloads
