Factors Associated with Severity of Traumatic Brain Injury After Hospital Admission*

Abstract

This retrospectively descriptive research aimed to study factors related to severity of traumatic brain injury (TBI) after hospital admission. Data was collected from medical record of 95 patients who admitted between January 1 and June 30, 2018. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square statistics and Univariate Logistic Regression. The study findings showed that the incidence rate of TBI was 37.89%. The factors associated with severity of TBI were traumatic brain injury at parietal area and temporal area, TBI more than one area, duration to dilantin time, decompressive craniectomy, first GCS, highest body temperature within 24 hours, O₂ saturation, PaCO₂, average DTX within 24 hours, and CT brain with midline shift.
