Applying Natural Childbirth Concept: The Challenge for Midwives in the Current Era of Technology

Abstract

At present, women have more choices as to how they wish to give their childbirth. Someone who believes that childbirth is a natural process and prefers to have a natural birth. However, utilising the concept of natural childbirth is still not popular because of many obstacles involving the knowledge, skills and the attitudes of the service providers and health system management. The purpose of this paper is to disseminate concept of natural childbirth, problems and obstacles, applications, and roles of midwives. To help midwives, pregnant women including their family to understand the concept of natural childbirth and to take consider all guidelines for decision making.
