SPIRITUAL NEEDS IN ADOLESCENT WITH CANCER

Abstract

This descriptive study aimed to investigate spiritual needs in adolescent with cancer. Study participants were 52 adolescent with cancer. Research instruments included a demographic questionnaire and spiritual needs questionnaires. The descriptive statistics and content analysis were used for data analysis. Results indicated that the total level of spiritual need was moderate ( x- = 3.29, SD = 0.59) and in each categories found the level of personal faith ( x- = 4.03, SD = 0.25) were high. Moreover, the adolescent with cancer reflected the meanings of spirituality were composed of 3 groups, 1) a sense of connectedness 2) religious practice and 3) in the depth of mind. In additional, the adolescent with cancer reflected the spiritual need was 1) the meaning and purpose of life 2) need for commitment with faith/mystery and 3) need for hope.
