EFFECTS OF THE SELF – EFFICACY PROMOTION PROGRAM ON COMPUTER GAME PLAYING AMONG SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN

Abstract

This quasi- experimental research, which was designed into pretest and posttest group, aimed to study effects of the self - efficacy promotion program on computer game playing among school age children. The samples were 6th year primary school students from municipality of Amphoe Muang Chonburi. There were 40 students selected by simple random sampling. The instruments used in this study were: general information of student and his/her family, questionnaire about computer playing behaviour, evaluation form of the self - efficacy promotion program on computer game playing and Game Addiction Screening Test for children and teenagers (GAST) based on the self-efficacy theory of Bandura, the content validity index of data collection showed at 0.80, the reliabilities of data collection showed at and self - efficacy promotion program on computer game playing among school age children based on the self-efficacy theory of Bandura. The content validity index of data collection showed at 0.80, the reliabilities of data collection showed at 0.85, data analysis done via frequency, percentage, means and standard deviation and the hypotheses tested by using the Paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed rank Test.
The results showed as following. After receiving the self - efficacy promotion program, perception mean of the experimental group was statistically significant higher than before at 0.05 level and behaviour level of the experimental group was statistically significant lower than before at 0.05 level.
