Abstract

ABSTRACT:

This descriptive research aimed to study family nursing competency among professional nurses who worked at postnatal care unit in tertiary care hospitals, north-eastern. The population was 237 nurses. The questionnaire was conducted that was developed based on framework of International Family Nursing Association and Thai Nursing Council. The content validity index was 0.80 and Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficiency was 0.98. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistic. The finding showed that mean score of family nursing competency was in high level (= 3.80, S.D = 0.53). The highest mean score was competency in ‘enhance and promote family health’ (=3.92, SD =0.59). The lowest mean score was competency in ‘family nursing practice and family health outcomes’ (=3.73, SD =0.60). Therefore, nurse administrators should use the finding to plan for developing family nursing competency of professional nurses who work at postnatal care unit for the highest level of all aspects further.
