The Development and Evaluation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Service Provision Model to Teenage Mothers: A Case Study of Krabi Province.

Abstract

                         A research and development of sexual and reproductive health was model to reduce repeated pregnancy in teenage mothers and illegal abortion. Teenage mother could access birth control services after birth and safe pregnancy termination with counseling system. This counseling system was set at antenatal clinic (ANC) and teen clinic and repeated counseling while the mothers were admitted at labor room and postpartum unit and an alternative counseling for unwanted teenage pregnant. Counseling program for the experimental group composed of counseling system while the control group received only introduced birth control in postpartum period. All comparing results were statistically significant (p < 0.05). There was 89.4 percent of postpartum contraceptives and  85.6 percent  of birth control implant used.  The rate of contraception with implantation of Krabi teenage mothers in the year 2018 increased to 80.1 percent, the rate of repeat pregnancy decreased to 14.5 percent and the birth rate of  teenage mothers is lower than the target as well. Alternative counseling for unwanted teenage pregnancy increased to safe abortion too.
