Abstract

Abstract

This research purposes were to 1) study and compare the pattern of Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Bangkok Transit System Sky Train(BTS) and Mass Rapid Transit Subway (MRT) 2) study and compare Passengers’ and Providers’ Benefits and State Efficiency. The Researcher used Mixed Method research. In applying quantitative method, 1050 samplings were collected. For the qualitative methods, 12 key informants were interviewed. The two approaches were complementary with the results of each lending converging evidential which correspond to overall findings.

The finding shows that the pattern of Public Private Partnership in BTS sky train is BOT that has the characteristic of 100% private investment, and concessional provider by BTSC Company at least for 30 years. The pattern of Public Private Partnership in MRT subway is BOOT that has the characteristic of 20% private investment, 80% state investment on structure, and concessional provider by BEM Company for 25 years. The different characters are design, investment and operation. The different benefit are the provider’s concession benefits and the public debts. The suggestion of this study in order todesign mass rapid network are to integrate the urban or region-development plan, and use public-private partnership in funding.
