Abstract

This article examines the overall picture of income and expenditure among Thai farmers, by region as well as by type of agricultural production. It also investigates the impact of socio-economic, institutional, and climate change factors on agricultural income and expenditure of Thai farmers. Survey questionnaires were employed to collect data on a probability sample of farmers nationwide. The results of the research indicate that the factors affecting income after expenditure of Thai farmers are: type of agriculture, number of dependents, amount of production in 2016 compared to 2015, change in spread of weed, insects, and diseases, and the effects of landslides. Factors affecting variable cost or expenditure of Thai farmers include number of elderly persons in the family, owned land area, effects of drought, and effects of floods. Factors affecting fixed cost or expenditure of Thai farmers include type of agriculture, number of persons in the family, rented land area, effects of drought, and effects of floods.
