Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop problematic English ending pronunciation of first year students, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University by using ELLIS, and 2) to study the attitudes of the first year students at Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University towards ELLIS. The sample group of this study was 30 freshmen majoring in Community Development, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nakhon SiThammarat Rajabhat University enrolling Integrated English Skills during the first semester of the academic
year 2012, selected by random sampling. Two instruments used in this research were 1) the pre and post tests of the problematic pronunciation at the final position of individual words, words in sentences and paragraphs
and 2) the questionnaire for studying student’s attitudes towards ELLIS. The duration of the quasi-experimental research covered 17 periods including the pre and post tests. The statistics used in analyzing the collected data were means ( x ), standard deviation (S.D.) percentages and t-test. The results of the study were as follows: 1) ELLIS improved the students’ problematic pronunciation at the final position of individual words, words in sentences and paragraphs significantly higher at 0.01. 2) The students’ attitudes towards the use of


ELLIS use were positive ( x = 4.21, S.D. = 0.57). Students strongly agreed with learning with ELLIS program, Master Pronunciation content, was suitable for every level of the learners
