Abstract

This research aimed to study the knowledge from etching plates produced process and to
create the printmaking using etching technique. The researcher awared that some materials using for
producing etching plates can only find in Bangkok. To dissolve this problem, the researcher designed
the experiment for etching plate producing. The experiment began with surveying the local materials
and compared their qualifications to copper sheet. After that the researcher produced the plates using
3 techniques which are 1) Hard-ground Etching 2) Soft – Ground Etching and 3) Aquatint. Then the
researcher analyzed and compared the printing results, chose the best one to use printmaking process
and brought it into printing process. The artwork analysis shows that the plates produced from local
material has a same good quality as the copper plate which is more expensive price. This research
increases the knowledge about the various materials that using for etching plates produced.
