Factors Influencing the Competitive Advantage of Thai Airfreight Forwarders

Abstract

The main purposes of this research were (1) the attributes of the factors of logistics resources, logistics service capability, collaboration, innovative capability, trust, and the competitive advantage of Thai Airfreight Forwarders. The researcher also examines (2) the relationships between the factors of logistics resource attributes, logistics service capability, collaboration, innovative capability, trust, and the competitive advantage of the companies under study. Moreover, the researcher investigates (3) the direct, indirect, and total influences of the factors exerting effects on the competitive advantage of these companies.


In this dissertation, the researcher employed a mixed-methods research methodology emphasizing quantitative methods utilizing for hypothesis testing as based on the conceptual framework for this inquiry. A questionnaire was used as a research instrument for collecting data from 336 Thai airfreight forwarders. In the qualitative phase of research, the researcher carried out in-depth interviews so as to be able to confirm or lend support to the findings of this research investigation. The statistical techniques were used linear structural relationship (LISREL) analysis was employed in testing the research model.


Findings are as follows: (1) logistics resource attributes exerted direct positive influence on logistics service capability, (2) logistics service capability exerted direct positive influence on collaboration, (3) logistics service capability exerted direct positive influence on innovative capability, (4) logistics service capability exerted direct positively influenced trust, (5) collaboration exerted direct positive influence on competitive advantage, (6) innovative capability exerted direct positive influence on competitive advantage, and (7) trust exerted direct positive influence on competitive advantage.
