Public Relations Media Affecting Health Tourism Behavior of the Elderly in Nakhon Sawan Province

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to (1) study the general state of health tourism in Nakhon Sawan Province; (2) study the health tourism behavior of the elderly in Nakhon Sawan Province; (3) study the health tourism public relations media information perception of the elderly in Nakhon Sawan Province and (4) study the relationship between the health tourism public relations media and health tourism behavior of the elderly in Nakhon Sawan Province.


The samples used in this study were 400 elderly people aged 60 years and over in Nakhon Sawan Province. Statistics used for data analysis are percentages, frequency distribution, mean and chi-square values for hypothesis testing.


The research found that Most of the samples were female 58.30 Percent, aged between 60-65 years old 44.80 Percent, Marital status 54.70 Percent, Education level was lower than bachelor degree 74.50 Percent, was retired 27.50 Percent, income less than or equal to 10,000 baht 44.30 Percent, had moderate health status 53.10 Percent. The health tourism behaviors were 63.00 Percent and 45.50 Percent preferred to visit the most natural attractions, 60.50 Percent of the tourists travel in the most economical way. Most of them are family members or relatives 81.30 Percent, are traveling with their families or relatives 77.00 Percent. The effect on health tourism public relations media information perception of health tourism behavior of the elderly was at a moderate level. The relationship between health tourism public relations media and health tourism behavior of the elderly found that personal communication had an effect on overnight stay in traveling. Radio broadcasting has the effect on the destination, travel behavior patterns, overnight stays and travel budgets. Internet media affects overnight stays on travel and travel budgets.
