FACTORS AFFECTING ORGANIZATIONAL CITIZENSHIP BEHAVIOR OF EMPLOYEES IN THE GOVERNMENT SAVINGS BANK, SURAT THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

     The objectives of this study were to study (1) the level of good organizational membership behavior of employees, (2) the levels of organizational commitment, justice in the organization, and job satisfaction of employees, and (3) factors of organizational commitment, justice in the organization, and job satisfaction affecting good organizational membership behavior of employees in the Government Savings Bank, Surat Thani province. This study was a survey research. The research population comprised 210 Savings Bank employees working in Surat Thani Province. The research sample consisted of 136 employees obtained by stratifed random sampling. The sample size was determined based on Krejcie and Morgan’s Sample Size Table at 95% confdence interval. The research tool used for data collection was a questionnaire. Statistics for data analysis were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that (1) the overall good organizational membership behavior of employees in the Government Savings Bank, Surat Thani Province was rated at the high level; (2) the overall organizational commitment, overall justice in the organization, and overall job satisfaction of the employees were rated at the high level; and (3) the factors of justice in the organization, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment positively affected good organizational membership behavior of employees. The three predictors could be combined to predict good organizational membership behavior of employees in the Government Savings Bank, Surat Thani Province by 49.9 percent which was signifcant at the .05 level of statistical signifcance.
