Leadership Competencies for Information Professionals in Thai Higher Educational Institutes

Abstract

 


The study of leadership competencies is an essential topic for all profession because the leadership competencies in an organization are in driving organization to carry out assigned missions. The comprehension of leadership competencies makes it clearly to plan and frame for developing stronger profession.


The study aims to study and analyze leadership competencies for information professionals in Thai higher educational institutes. Due to the Information explosion, the pursuit of knowledge becomes necessary. The role of information professional leaders is thus meaningful and significant.


The findings based on respondents’ opinions towards the importance of leadership competencies can be also classified into three aspects, which exhibited their importance at the same mean score at a high level: (1) managerial competencies include human resource management, leadership, and planning and organizing. (2) personal characteristics include image/individual traits, and attitude/working skills. (3) general area of knowledge include professional knowledge, and knowledge/capacities of management.
