The Influence of Learning Organization and Competitive Advantage on Organizational Performance in SMEs Thailand

Abstract

This research studied about the influence of learning organization and competitive advantage on organizational performance in order to develop and examine the goodness of fit of causal model by analyzing the empirical data. The research data was collected from 227 samples which consisted of two industries; 1) textile and apparel manufacturers, and 2) footwear and leather manufacturers. The researcher had studied and analyzed, in terms of the organizational unit of analysis, the qualitative research in order to verify the data obtained from the literature review and conducted quantitative research in order to study the causal relation of the research framework. The collected data was analyzed by computer programs called SPSS and AMOS.

The findings of this research were as follows:

1. The causal model of learning organization and competitive advantage affect the organizational performance of Small and Medium Enterprises in Thailand fit to the empirical data (chi-square = 22.37, df = 14, p = 0.71, CFI = 0.992, GFI = 0.975, AGFI = 0.936, RMR = 0.028, RMSEA = 0.051).

2. Learning organization has direct positive effect on competitive advantage (influence = 0.631) and competitive advantage has direct positive effect on organizational performance (influence = 0.302).

3. Whereas learning organization has indirect positive effect on organizational performance through competitive advantage (influence = 0.191), it has no direct effect on organizational performance.
