Evaluation of Patients’ Satisfaction Toward Hearing Aids Services in Ramathibodi Hospital

Abstract
Background: People with hearing impairments would have trouble in communication effecting on life and occupation. Receiving appropriate hearing aid fittings would improve their quality of life.
Objective: This survey study aimed to evaluate patient satisfaction toward hearing aid services, and to improve the hearing aid services in Ramathibodi Hospital.
Methods: Participants were selected using a convenience sampling technique during February to April 2014. Participants were asked to complete either the Hearing Aid Evaluation, the Hearing Aid Fitting, or the Follow-Up Hearing Aid Questionnaires corresponding to their visit using a 5-point rating scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods.
Results: The average overall patient satisfaction (for all three visits) was very satisfied (4.39). For each visit, the average scores of the Hearing Aid Evaluation, Hearing Aid Fitting and Follow-Up Hearing Aid Questionnaire were all very satisfied which were 4.46, 4.45, and 4.26, respectively.
Conclusion: Patients prefer a longer trial period of comparing sound quality and more information about effects of hearing loss and how to use their hearing aids.
