Art therapy Activities for Creativity Development of Autistic Students

Abstract

The aims of this research are to compare the creativity difference of autistic students between pre-experiment and post-experiment, and to study the results of using an art therapy for autistic students’ creativity development. The sample of this study is two autistic students, which are 14-year-old girl and 18-year-old boy who are studying the art therapy in the Demonstration School of KhonKaen University, Special Education (Autistic Research Centre) by using a purposive sampling. In academic year 2018, the period of examination which starts from September to December, is 16 times in total; 50 minutes per time, 1 time per day and 2 days per week for 8 weeks. Torrance creativity test and art therapy plan are the tools in this study. The statistical data analysis methods are mean and percentage. There are 8 activities that are included in the statistic data analysis, which are ‘mean’ and ‘percentage’. As the results, students with autism have creativity development in higher level after using the art therapy about 86%.
