This study aimed to 1) analyze the cause of disaster management problems in Banyang Sub-district Administrative Organization, Kasetsomboon District, Chaiyaphum Province, and 2) offer strategies to increase efficiency disaster management in Banyang Sub-district Administrative Organization, Kasetsomboon District, Chaiyaphum Province. In-depth interviews and the cause analysis of disaster management problems with a focus group discussion were applied in this study. Population and samples consisted of 40 people: 26 administrators and councilors, 2 prevented and mitigated public disaster officers, 12 village headmen who had been victims of disaster in Banyang Sub-district Administrative Organization and civil defense volunteers. The results revealed that there were 4 aspects of disaster management problems in Banyang Sub-district Administrative Organization. 1) Insufficient material and outdated equipment. 2) Insufficient working skills and menpower. 3) Insufficient prevented and mitigated public disaster budget. 4) Unclear of working policy and lacking of knowledge supporting as well as participating from all sectors. Therefore, strategies to increase the efficiency of related disaster management should be assigned into the budget plan based on different phases which were: short-term phase; 1) providing knowledge of disaster management staff training project, 2) purchasing the recue cars project, 3) purchasing the prams with their engines and equipment project, and 4) purchasing the 6,000-liter water trucks project. For long-term phase; 1) the 40 hectares creek area dredging project, and 2) the 3 kilometers of Prom River dredging. The total budget was 8,450,000 baht. If all these projects can be implemented, it can help increase efficiency of the disaster management of Banyang Subdistrict Administrative Organization in the future.
