The purposes of this study were 1) to study the state of formality of silk weaving group and 2) to find ways to develop the silk weaving group in the Ban Huo Fai in Por Daeng sub-district, Chonnabot district, Khon Kaen province. The research participants were 85 members of the occupational groups in the area of Ban Huo Fai. The instruments used for data collection were interview forms and guided group discussions. The statistical techniques used for data analysis were frequency and percentage. Content analysis was also employed to answer the research questions.

Results of the study indicated that :

1. Regarding the overall operations of the silk weaving group in the Ban Huo Fai, it was found that the group carried out all activities from time to time. When considering each aspect separately , it was found that the most frequent performance was product increasing, followed by development of management efficiency and development of product quality, respectively.

2. With regard to operating results, it was found that under the aspect of product increasing, the most frequently carried out activity was adoption of new technology to increase the production. For the aspect to marketing development, the most frequently carried out was manufacturing products as soon as the orders were received from the customers. For the aspect of product quality development, the most frequently carried out activity was regular training on the development of product quality. For the management efficiency development, it was found that the group members shared knowledge with members of other occupational groups in the same and nearby sub-district regularly.

3. For strength and sustainable development of the silk weaving group in the Ban Huo Fai, there were many factors to be taken into consideration, namely leaders of the occupational group, budget, and support from local administrative organizations, local resources, participatory management, knowledge sharing, and understanding of the community.
