Factors Influencing Corporate Governance of SMEs and Performance for Food Processing Industry in Thailand

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) analyze the characteristics of the entrepreneurs, organizational ethics, and two-way communication as the direct and moderator variables that affected the corporate governance of the small and medium enterprises and 2) evaluate the influence of the corporate governance of the small and medium enterprises on the management.  This was a quantitative research.  The population were small and medium enterprises listed in the Food Processing Industry Club registered as the legal entity with the Department of Industrial Works. For this research, the researcher had received 192 returned questionnaires (24.90%).


            The results were that social ability, ethics of care, ethics of justice, two-way communication, and two-way communication as moderator variables which affected the ethics of care showed positive direct influence on the corporate governance of small and medium enterprises.  Besides, it showed that there was one variable supported in the opposite direction, that variable was the two-way communication as the moderator variable which affected ethics of justice. The results also showed that good corporate governance could make financial performance, competitive and new customers increased.
