Abstract

Objective: To gather academic articles of lecturers in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital that were published in international journals from 2012 to 2016 according to the international database, and to study the number of cited references, the impact factor, and the h-index value of the articles that were submitted.
Methods: We analyzed the academic articles in Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital that were published in 3 international journals databases: Scopus, ISI Web of Science and PubMed, between 2012 and 2016.
Results: From 2012 to 2016, there were a number of academic articles of lecturers in Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. There were 83 articles published in international journals and were referenced 2,039 times. The year that had the most cited papers was 2014, with the number of 425 citations and following by 420 citations in 2016. The impact factor of international journals in
ophthalmology was between 0.391-9.394 and the h-index was 22, according to Scopus database.
Conclusion: Academic articles published in international academic journals with high impact factor and international academic references are widely available of lecturers in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital received the very good TRF Index 4.3 from the evaluation of the quality of academic science and technology researches of Higher Education Institutions of Thailand in 2014 by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF).
